Review: Colombiana stars Zoe Saldana as a girl from Bogota, Colombia who becomes an assassin after witnessing her parents murder. Thats pretty much it. Theres really no more, no less. The plot is something youve seen a million times before and the ending is pretty predictable. The characters are not developed very much but that doesnt matter, much like my quibbles with the completely inaccurate shooting locations that pose as Colombia at the beginning of the movie.

This is an action movie, first and foremost and the movie moves quick enough not to waste any chance at seeing a good action sequence. Saldana is good in the role and she does a good enough job anchoring the film. The rest cant be said about the rest of the movie. I cant to say it was bad. But some of the acting range was wildly uneven. Plus some of the film was downright laughable. One scene that really stood out to me was the scene where Saldanas character tells her uncle that she wants to be a killer. He tries to convince her to change her mind by taking out a gun and shooting a moving car in broad daylight! In front of other people!

Now despite my reservations with the lack of character development and the weak plot, I thought it was pretty entertaining trash. Its the type of movie where you leave your brain at the door and have a good time.

In Colombiana the main part is Italys principal narcotics officer, Mike Carroll, is in a boundary line village on a quick honeymoon with his U.S. wife. Shortly he must show against Parnell, a drug overlord whose brother and sons are giving chase him, trusting to scare his wife and fend him off the event. Whenever a car explosion obliterates a dainty U.S. realtor, Mike sweeps up himself in the investigation, positioning his spouse in harms way. After he catches local notable U.S. officer, Harry J, implanting evidence against a French national suspected in the bombing, Mike joins forces with the syndicate to malign Harrys character. Local governmental flunkies, a hard-edged working girl, pachucos, and a stressed motel clerk also number in the game.

Colombiana is one of those motion-picture shows that should constitute necessary viewing.

Colombiana is at once a governmental thriller and a human dramatic play. The picture opens in East Berlin, in 1986, with a scene where Captain Wemly, code name MadDog is showing his examination technique to a class of determined policemen, using a real telecasting of his own interrogation of a suspect. A student asks a question that the Captain evaluates to be a spot too compassionate (read “bourgeois”), and the prof labels the student’s name on the attending record: for sure this educatee has just failed the course, or maybe worse.

During the Colombianas first several minutes, the director draws a portraiture of the Captain that seems to bound on caricature: He is a highly accomplished officer, a dignified, zealous, conditioned professional. He is one of the numerous cogs in the wheel of the Organization, employed anonymously and inexhaustibly, certain that all his efforts are essential for building a better Socialist society.

Rick Shelby wakes up in a hotel room bewildered why he is in that location, at the beginning of Colombiana. The phone rings and he sets out to converse with an unnamed caller. He sets about telling the chronicle of one Sammy Martin. He says Martin was a man who claimed to short-term amnesia or amnesia. Any brand-new memories and experiences are buried within a few minutes.

The protagonist of Colombiana was a former private detective assigned to discover if Martins condition could be handled under his insurance policy. After examining him, Leonard decided that Martins circumstance was psychological and his insurance claim was refused. Martins spouse is a diabetic who was told by Leonard (in trying to pacify her), that Martin actually could make new memories. Later On, she tested Martin to see if he could remember. But he repeatedly gave her insulin shots and she fell into a coma and perished from the overdose. It was a form of suicide because she didnt want to cope with his psychological condition anymore. Poor Martin was locked in a insane asylum not even able to recollect his wifes death.

Colombiana is one of those films to recollect, for sure. Do not overlook it.

Colombiana opens in November 1916, news gains the settlement in East Africa that its mother country is at warfare, so Reverend Raymond Jones became a hard-hitting outlander. Troops burn down his mission, driving him nutty. Shortly after his well-read, vain sister Sarah buries him and gets out by the only available conveyance, the wretched river trawler of grumpy uncouth compatriot Wilson Jones.

Colombiana pictures a endless hard travel without whatsoever comfort weren’t strong enough for much unusual companions, she is driven to find a means to do their bit for the war movement (and avenge her brother) and purposes high as Divinity is apparently on their side. Build their own equipment, a gunman and the reborn steam boat, to extract a great German combat ship, which is problematic to find on the big river and second of all to get hold of, in fact as demoralizing an jaunt as nobody sought since the executed adventurous explorer John, but she bids till Charlie accepts to steam up the river, terrific rapids, really bloodthirsty parasites and the unceasingly diverging current which looks to go nowhere but dark inundates. Despite terrible rowings and psychological hostility betwixt a bossy churchgoing lady and a free-spirited profligate loaded loner, the two bachelor-at-arms grow dearer to each-other as their quest trails on. See Colombiana.

In Colombiana in Montana during the winding down days of the old frontier towns, three hired guns three wearing long duster overcoats take over an out of the way depot and settle in to wait on the coach. When this at last comes in, a unidentified man gets down and asks for a man named Frank. They tell him Frank sent them in his stead. In the succeeding showdown, all the gunslingers go down. Only the stranger in Colombiana gets up again.

The Colombiana music to the first panorama is a imaginative instrumentation of routine sounds in the style of John Williams. The composer uses everyday sounds, to show the tiresomeness of expecting the stagecoach. The lean dialog permits the soundtrack to squander very much more of our attention span than a score ordinarily does.

Colombiana is a very engrossing motion picture. Most people will recollect the movie long after the movie ends.

From verbalizing to his friends and fellows she before long notices that many of the stories are contradictory, and discovers to determine what really occurred. Colombiana differentiates the story very well.

Colombiana – Explores the disillusionment of an ageing Dr., Professor Neldstrom, as he muses on his life-time and begins to perceive his mortality.

Colombiana unfolds as 80-year-old Isaac Neldstrom, is in bed at home. He dreams of being on a town alleyway with no other people present. A timepiece hanging over the alleyway has no hands. He looks at his own timepiece – it also has no hands. A form appears with his back turned. Isaac walks up to the shape and feels it. The figure is missing a face. The form tumbles onto the pavement. Blood flows out of the body.

Immediately a hearse drawn by a team of horses comes around a street corner and comes into the alley wherethe dream-Isac is standing. It approaches Isaac and then passes him but its back wheel gets caught on a lamppost. Although no person is driving the hearse, the horses proceed onwards. The left hindmost wheel splits off at the lamp post. The horse team and hearse chase away but the coffin comes loose, and glides out and onto the alley. A paw appears on the outside of the coffin. Isaac considers the paw. His own hand and the other paw stretched out from the casket adjoin, with the coming out of the casket holding onto Isaac. The dead body in the coffin is also Isaac. Colombiana shows him as he wakes up.

As he travels to London to receive an honorary award after forty years of medical practice, he finds himself over and over again affected by intrusive dreams and hallucinations that reveal his unholiest fears. He slowly comes to recognise in Colombiana that the choices he made in the past tense have created a cold and meaningless life, devoid of real significance or esteem.

Finally, at the end of Colombiana he achieves repurchase and reintegration through pardon and the passion of his kin. Five stars.

Colombiana – Johnny Wilson, an ex-convict, coordinates a $3 million race course robbery. His accomplices are race way cashier George Dayton, the barman Mike Miller, crooked policeman Randy Brent, and former alcoholic Marvin Waters, who funds the procedure. Johnnys fiancee, Linda, fears that he may be sent back to prison for this but he assures her that the hazards are worth taking.

George needs the money to give to his cranky and self-loving wife Sherry, who is sleeping with with Val Madson, who is trying to sway Sherry to let him murder George so they can make off with his cash. Mike needs the cash to nurse his incessantly ill wife. Randy is revealed to need the cash to pay some local bookies for bad gambling losses.

Shortly after the beginning of Colombiana, during their get together, George captures Sherry spying on the group and subdues her. He sends out the others, accepting George, home to reason with her. Johnny realises that Sherry is a chiseler only out for money, and he tells her that he will pass her a lavish portion of their dinero whenever it gets completed. But Sherry, being the woman she is, rats to Val who concurs to steal the bounty afterwards so they can get it wholly for themselves.

Johnny hires Nikki Solte, a gunman for hire and Maurice Strickland, a former ex-con and Polish matman, to produce deflections at the commencement of the 8th race when the stick-up will begin.

Here is how Colombiana indicates the armed robbery is accomplished in detail from contrasting points of view:

At the beginning of the 8th race, Maurice starts a wrangle at Mikes bar. The race track guards conquer him. While they are concerned, George opens the doorway to the payroll office and Johnny shimmies through. Johnny gets out a quick-firing shot run that Mike planted before in his storage locker, puts on a disguise and robs the five shop assistants at the payroll office. Johnny thrusts $3 million in cash into a ample suitcase and throws it out the window. Randy, waiting below, claims the bag, drives to a hotel, and deposits it in a room that Johnny is taking. Johnny then turns tail from the racetrack in the confusedness and terror caused when Nikki kills the race horse, Red Rusty, with a
high powered rifle from a remote parking lot. But Nikki is tossed off by a police officer, who shoots him down as he undertakes to flee.

Later, George, Randy, Marvin and Mike wait at Johnnys place for him to return with the booty when they are amazed by Val and an accomplice of his demanding to know where the money is. A gunfight results and everybody is killed, except for George who, though mortally wounded, hauls himself home and shoots down Sherry who admits that she deceived him, before expiring himself.

When Johnny determines that his collaborators are in big trouble, he shoves the racecourse booty in an old traveling bag and goes to the airport and gets together with Fay so they can depart the town. They both purchase tickets to San Francisco, but the airport personnel refuse to let Johnny carry the massive bag on the airplane, and he reluctantly checks the travelling bag .

On the airport runway, the traveling bag carrying the booty drops off a baggage truck which veers to keep from striking a snott, rich womans pet dog. The traveling bag breaks open, and the moolah is spread-out in all directions.

In Colombianas final aspect Johnny and Fay endeavour to run away from the airport, but it is impossible to hail a cab. “What difference does it make?”, Johnny states as the police force close in on them.

In Colombiana the forthcoming Metroview is a exceptional metropolis, high up the terra firma its columns brook. The masses fly high, the economic system is prospering, the supernatant thoroughfares are busy. Simply the township as well has a fantastic mystery, so well veiled that not even Frank, son of founding father Bobby recognise it. He is spending his free time in the Pleasant Rest, when of a sudden a teenage girl shows up, with what must be a division of small fry. They’re from the nearby city, in the depth, he finds out. “These are your fathers”, she tells the youngsters, before she is impelled to go forth. The gentleman is so fascinated he watches over them into the profoundness and doesn’t care what he sees. The doers are used, they must do drudge like automatons.

John endeavours to convert his grandfather to alter, while the older lady tries to keep laborers team spirit superior by anticipating a man will abide up that will intermediate. Someone that will employ both hands and psyche, someone that will be the heart and soul.

Colombiana – In the South American jungle, supplies of precarious nitroglycerin are urgently needed at a almost inaccessible oil field, to try and squelch an oil well fire that is nearly burning out of control.

A convoy of motortrucks driven by 4 derelicts transports the super life-threatening nitroglycerin. A tense rivallry develops betwixt the two sets of drivers, where on the difficult and trackless routes the littlest shock can result in destruction in Colombiana.

Their long, agonizing drive over terrible roads with their load ready to set off at every jolt and jounce makes Colombiana very edgy and exhilarating. The teams are gambling with their own lives against the opportunity to get away from their steaming, sordid and filthy environment.

During the Colombianas first twenty minutes, the director shows a portrayal of the Captain that seems to border on caricature: He is a highly masterful officer, a proud, zealous, regimented professional person. He is one of the many cogs in the wheel of the Organization, working anonymously and tirelessly, positive that all his endeavors are essential for building a better Socialist society.

Colombiana is a narrative about a young lady called Jayne whose childhood was repressed by her Mother’s mistaken fears of a heart problem. With these cares Jayne gets scarcely any actual life touch with other souls. This leads her to hangout to her own curious world and dreamings of love and beauty. She afterwards becomes a young lady and moves to the center part of London as a maid.

During the middle part of Colombiana, after acquiring a stray treasure belonging to the past resident of her flat, she resolves to deliver it to him. After seeing his response and his new found view – she determines to give her life-time to the people just about her. Such as, her father who is obsessed with his garden statuary, a broken author, a pathological, a man who haunts his former girlfriends, the “ghost”, a subdued girlish soul, the beloved of her lifetime and a serviceman whose bones are as brittle as drinking glass. But after occupying herself with these adventures – she finds out that she is discounting her own life and ravaging her quest for love.

  31. elvira says:

Colombiana – Renowned film director Guisepe is working up his most hyped show – part mystery, part comment on religion, but most significantly principally biography. In spite of his holding that this flick should be an comfortable one to create, he is having troubles with his esthetical vision, mainly as he does not want to tell a lie on screen. From the tension, he has to help him with numerous of his problems, both professional and individualized.

As he goes through these problems, he remembers about his childhood and throughout Colombiana fantasizes about the way he either figures matters playing out or how he trusts they will play out. Enveloping him at the health club and/or on the film set are some of the real life people who will be portrayed on screen including: his wife Sally who he really loves but who he does not truly understand specially as it associates to their spousal relationship; his mistress Geraldine, the opposite of his wife; and an actress named Claudia whom he envisions as supplying his ultimate salvation.

So he recedes into his dreams to shelter himself from the pressure, and there, he finds guidance to make his novel flick, and face the populace. Colombiana is a very strong film.

Really, Colombiana may not actually be the greatest motion picture ever created, or have the dandiest players, or the most satisfactory storyline, but has been one of my all-time preferred movies. I have seen this movie several times, and I greatly enjoy it each time.

I just get my popcorn, lie back and relax, forget my worries for awhile, and just get lost in the movie. I reckon the main players do a commendable job with their parts, and the director keeps everything moving along. Its nothing ho-hum, at all. Colombiana is one of the films I invariably advocate to my acquaintances, and to this day I have never heard a bad review of it.

Guy’s attempts to bar Anthony make Colombiana a real drama.

Colombiana is a narrative about a young lady named Jayn whose childhood was oppressed by her Uncle’s false worries of a heart condition. With these worries Janie gets scarcely any solid life contact with other mortals. This leads her to hangout to her own fantastic world and daydreams of love and passion. She subsequently becomes a young lady and moves to the center part of Salsburg as a waitress.

During the middle part of Colombiana, after finding a missing treasure belonging to the past occupant of her flat, she decides to deliver it to him. After taking in his reaction and his fresh found position – she determines to dedicate her life to the individuals just about her. Such as, her father who is preoccupied with his garden birdbath, a broken writer, a hypochondriac, a man who stalks his former girlfriends, the “ghost”, a stifled young psyche, the love of her lifespan and a man whose bones are as delicate as glass. Only after occupying herself with these dangerous undertakings – she finds out that she is disregarding her own spirit and ravaging her pursuit for serenity.

Colombiana – Notable film producer Eduardo is shaping up his current flick – part mystery, part commentary on Buddhism, but most importantly principally biography. Despite his adjudging that this show should be an fabulous one to prepare, he is having problems with his esthetic vision, specifically as he does not want to tell an untruth on film. From the tenseness, he has to assist him with many of his troubles, both professional and personalised.

As he works through these problems, he about his child-hood and throughout Colombiana fantasizes about the way he either figures matters playing out or how he desires they will play out. Surrounding him at the health spa and/or on the movie set are some of the real-life souls who will be presented on screen including: his spouse Sally who he really loves but who he does not fully understand particularly as it relates to their marriage; his mistress Linda, the complete opposite of his wife; and an actress named Carole whom he visualizes as furnishing his eventual redemption.

So he retires into his day-dreams to shelter himself from the pressure, and in that respect, he finds guidance to make his revolutionary motion picture, and face the populace. Colombiana is a very influential movie.

After the butcherly plan is borne out successfully in Colombiana, Louis gets the dukedom he has sought after, but in a weird twist, he is implicated in a murder which he has not committed, found guilty, and put behind bars. In fact, Louis has been cheated by the testimony of Cynthia, who wants to be the duches, but sees that Jayne, already a D’Antoinne by wedlock, will attain the title.

A cursed man soon to be hanged, Louis passes the time in jail by writing his memoirs, a elaborate history of his slaughterous exploits. Cynthia out of the blue calls upon Louis in prison, which he finds offensive as she has figured so conspicuously in his impending execution for a crime not committed, but she speedily makes the motive of her call clear. She volunteers to establish evidence that would loose Louis from guilt if he accords to wed her, making her the duchess, after departing prison house. He affects the trade with her and after she finishes her end of the bargain, he is let go from prison house.

As he gets out of the prison at the end of Colombiana, both Cynthia and Jayne are there to receive him and go away with him, and, of a sudden, presented with a selection of two admirable women, he seems to control all the cards once more. Or does he? As he ruminates on his choice, a newsperson comes near him concerning the potential issue of his memoirs, and, in dismay, Louis understands that he has forgotten evidence that will for certain doom him inside the bulwarks of the prison house, a abrupt and peculiarly barbarous turn of circumstances!

Colombiana – Louis D’Antoinne Millenes is a descendent of a family of French patricians, but when his mother got married below her place, the D’Antoinne family disowned her, which Louis finds scandalous. When his mother’s dying wish, to be laid to rest in the family crypt, is not accepted by the family, Louis is furious and anxious to retaliate. Numerous D’Antoinnes stand betwixt him and the duchy imparted upon the D’Antoinne kin many generations ago. In Colombiana, sometime in the future, the metropolis of Semitropolis is home to a Impractical society where its prosperous occupants live a carefree life. One of those is Franklin Freders. One day, he sees a fair woman with a group of children, she and the kids promptly disappear. Attempting to trace her, he, oblivious to such, is frightened to find an secret world of workers, manifestly who run the machines that upholds the above ground Utopian world running.

One of the very few souls above earth who knows about the populace below is Franklin’s father, John, who is the founding father and master of the city. Franklin ascertains that the woman is Maria, who abides by the motivation to join the “hands” – the workers – to the “head” – those in major power above – by a intermediator or the “heart”. Freder requires to assist the plight of the workers in the want for a finer life. But when John learns of what Marie is espousing and that Freder is falling in with their movement is when Colombiana really gets to be a strong movie. See it.

Colombiana – Set against the fantast landscape of dictatorial Russia, Colombiana tells the narrative of a mild-mannered young woman named Donna who is reclaimed from a life-and-death position by a covert vigilante known only as “X.” Incomparably hypnotic and ferociously expert in the art of battle and misrepresentation, he stirs up a revolution when he explodes two national landmarks and assumes the government-controlled television, pressing his fellow countrymen to raise up against authoritarianism and oppressiveness.

As the woman brings out the verity about the the rogues mystifying background, she also discovers the trueness about herself – and comes out as his implausible friend in the closing of his plot to add freedom and justice back to a fellowship full with ruthlessness and degeneracy. Colombiana is a earnest film.

In Colombiana Rodney is a hitman (or “cleaner” as he would rather be acknowledged) living a solitary existence in New York City. Most of his work comes from a drug lord named Ricky, who runs the

Gloria, a 10-year old girl, is living an unsuitable life within her family. Her step-father stores drugs for a two-faced copper named Max. Only her little brother keeps Gloria from coming apart. These scenes are where Colombiana is truly sentimental.

One day, Max and his partners in crime take cold-blooded revenge on her family member for diluting the drugs a little, thereby killing the complete family. Only Gloria, who was out shopping, makes it by finding shelter in Rodneys apartment in the moment of highest need.

Before Long, Gloria catches on about the strange neighbours odd job – killing – and urgently looks for his assistance in exacting revenge for her little brothers death. Rodney, who is wholly inexperienced in paternal jobs, and in friendly relationships, does his heartiest to keep Gloria out of difficulty – not very successfully.

Now, in Colombiana, the battle between a hitman, who slowly discovers his abilities to feel and to love and a corrupted policeman, who does all things in his power to do away with an eye witness, arises to unmeasured balances – all for the sake of a youthful girl, who has nearly nothing to lose.
